About Veteran Mustang Mission

For many veterans, leaving military service can mean losing more than a career. It can mean losing structure, identity, community, and purpose.


Veteran Mustang Mission exists to help restore those things through an unexpected but powerful partnership between veterans and America's wild mustangs.

The organization serves veterans facing PTSD, anxiety, depression, isolation, and the difficult transition into civilian life. Through structured horsemanship programs, participants work with previously unhandled American mustangs, learning patience, communication, trust, leadership, and confidence throughout the gentling and training process.


Unlike traditional clinical therapy, healing happens alongside the horse. As veterans help a once-wild mustang learn to trust again, they often discover their own resilience returning. Both veteran and horse overcome fear together, creating a partnership built on patience, purpose, and mutual transformation.

The result is more than equine training—it's an opportunity for two lives to begin again.

The organization's vision includes establishing a permanent training facility, expanding its volunteer and leadership teams, and providing no-cost equine programs that help hundreds of veterans each year while giving more American mustangs a second chance at life.
